Exciting Chapter Books for Struggling Readers in Elementary and Middle School
Realistic characters, exciting plots and supportive text features for junior readers needing support in making the transition from picture books to novels.
HIP QUICKREAD CHAPTER BOOKS are shorter and easier adaptations of selected HIP JR titles. At about 70 pages, they’re designed to look just like the books all the other kids are reading. With plenty of white space and frequent illustrations, shorter sentences and simpler vocabulary, they help build the reading stamina necessary to tackle full pages of text and multiple chapters. Exciting chapter books for struggling readers in Grades 3-8.
INTEREST LEVEL: Grades 3-8
TECHNICAL READING LEVEL: mid-Grade 1 to early Grade 2*
Note: HIP uses a variety of readability formulas to determine the reading level of every page of its novels. A mid-grade one reading level is an indication of the challenges of vocabulary and sentence length; it does not mean the content of these books is geared to six year-old readers.
